Let’s go over the main game mechanics. Understanding these will help you navigate the game and make the best decisions. Let’s dive in!
Kickstart Your Experience:
In the #play-here channel, begin with the /start command.
Link your wallet and Discord on Aphelium’s website to fully engage with the game’s ecosystem.
It’s Time to Earn Some AP!
Use the /work command to start earning AP. Remember, each hour of work costs 3 energy points. You can gain more energy by sleeping, eating and craft items to increase your income. More skills and tools you have, the more AP you’ll earn while working!
Willpower Management with /wander:
After working hard, your astronauts need to recharge their willpower. Use /wander, which costs 1 energy point, to regain 6–10 Will points. This is essential to keep your willpower above 50 and avoid efficiency debuffs.
Get Some Rest!
Get some rest and gain energy by using the /sleep command to recharge your energy. You can wait for 8 hours for full energy, or use the /wakeup command if you’re eager to get back to work or exploring.
Building Relationships: Friendships and Reputation
- Cultivating Friendships: Interact with landowner NPCs while working to build friendships, impacting your gameplay positively.
- Reputation Mechanics: Reputation plays a critical role in your standing within the Aphelium community. Engage with NPCs to boost your reputation, enhancing your overall gameplay experience.
- Engaging with NPCs: The Critical Social Element
- Diverse NPCs: Encounter various NPCs, including landowners, robots, and explorers, each offering unique interaction opportunities.
- The Risk of Ignoring: Ignoring NPCs can lead to significant penalties, including a -10 hit to reputation and friendship. Always choose to engage or at least acknowledge their presence to maintain your standing.
Trade Your Way to Success: Be The Merchant!
You can sell or buy to create your strategy. Do you have rare resources to sell? Or do you need resources to craft a tool? Head over to the #market channel and use the /marketplace sell or /marketplace list commands to sell and buy. Start working on your skills so you can make the best deals and reach your goals.
Skip the Snooze, Feast Instead: Consume to Keep Going!
You can eat to keep going. Use the /consume command to regain energy. The efficiency of the food you eat depends on how you’ve prepared it:
- Raw food: 25 food units give you 1 energy point.
- Level 1 Cooked Food: From 50 food resources, you get a boost of 3 energy points.
- Level 2 Cooked Food: Requires a Level 2 cooker and the “Dish Rookie” Level 2 skill. It’s more efficient and the best way to get energy. Eating raw is a waste in comparison.
Remember, there’s a 5-minute cooldown between eating. For a 1-hour work session, you’ll need 75 food units. Make sure you’ve the right cooking skills and cooker to maximize your energy gain!
- Consume cosmic espresso by blending 2 sticker NFTs to regenerate whole energy! Try not to be addicted.
Quests for Glory: Achievements and Rewards
You can achieve more with quests. Check out your /quests to see what you can earn through achievements. The more you play, the more rewards you can get!
GXP and Skills Unlocked!
As you dive into the activities of Aphelium, it’s essential to understand how to best earn Game Experience Points (GXP). Here’s what you need to know:
- Earning GXP Through In-Game Activities: You earn GXP by engaging in specific in-game actions, particularly working and exploring. Keep in mind that activities like crafting, selling, or buying items do not contribute to your GXP.
- Work Duration and GXP Gain: Especially when you’re at lower levels, the duration of your work sessions can significantly impact your GXP earnings. Short work periods might not yield any GXP at lower levels even with a full reputation. Therefore, we recommend working for longer hours in batches to ensure you’re accumulating GXP efficiently.
- Relationship Between Revenue, Level, and GXP: The amount of revenue you generate and your character level directly influence the amount of GXP you gain. Higher levels and more substantial earnings lead to more GXP.
Whenever you gain a level, you’re notified in the #levelup channel.
Pick Your Skill!
Every time you level up, you’re rewarded with a skill point. It’s time to unlock your skills! Simply log in using your Discord account and make your way to the ‘Skills’ page. Here, you’ll find some skills waiting to be unlocked. So, make your choice and enhance your gameplay!
The Adventure Begins: You Can /explore and Collect Resources.
Regular Exploration:
- Begin by purchasing an exploration ticket using the /shop command in the #market channel.
- With ticket in hand, proceed to #play-here and embark on your journey with the /explore command. Dive deep into the mysteries of new lands each time you explore!
Note: Each /explore command usage consumes 1 energy point. The exploration isn’t time-defined as with /work. Instead, your astronaut selects a new land randomly each time — it’s all part of the thrill!
Exploration with Alien Skills:
- Fancy a close encounter of the third kind? First, unlock the alien skill.
- While venturing out, be prepared for unexpected meetings with friendly or even hostile beings.
Here’s what to expect during these encounters:
- Aliens may request specific resources, items, or even energy.
- Fail to meet a hostile alien’s demands? Brace yourself for a penalty.
- Unable to please a friendly alien? They’ll leave you alone, with neither rewards nor penalties.
- Succeed in satisfying a hostile alien’s requests? They’ll leave you in peace, with no rewards.
- Win the favor of a friendly alien? Enjoy some potential rewards.
Potential rewards or consequences could range from energy drain, tool repairs, rare resources, to the unfortunate event of tool destruction and much more. For those looking for a safety net during their explorations, consider packing some “alienoids” — they might just save you from tricky situations.
The First Steps To Start Crafting!
For crafting, tools like workbenches, cookers, and alchemy tables are essential, and they are exclusive to your lands. Start by minting the crafters as NFTs. Once that’s done, to stake these tools on your land, visit the “My NFTs” section on the website, choose your land, and click the stake button.
Remember:
- To craft, you must be on the land where the required crafter is staked. For instance, want to cook? Ensure you’re on the land with a staked cooker. Want to craft a potion, you need the alchemy table.
- You must have the necessary items from your /recipe in your inventory. Retrieve them, and initiate the crafting process with the `/craft name of the item` command.
PS: Crafting is exclusively for landowners since crafters are staked on lands. The crafted tool market will revolve around these landowners. As the Aphelium Team, we currently don’t plan on any tool drops.
Artisan or Trader? Craft, Use In Game or Sell on Secondary Market!
Use the /recipe command to see the materials you need to craft various items in the game.
When you craft a tool, you’ll see a confirmation screen. If you plan to use the item in the game, click “don’t mint”. However, if you want to sell the tool on the secondary market, you can choose to mint it. If you opt for “don’t mint”, make sure you have enough space in your inventory, or you’ll have to visit the oracle.
Did you accidentally click mint? Don’t worry! It just means you’ll need a few extra steps. Visit our website, navigate to “my NFTs”, and then click “burn NFT”. Now, the item should be back in your inventory. Please note that the “burn NFT” option doesn’t work for all types of NFTs.
Master of Your Domain: Manage Your Storage!
Monitor your inventory space with the /inventory command. If you run out of room, go to Land 0 or deposit items in your land chest via the /bases command. If the items are not on the chest that is staked on the land, each time you want to visit the land/chest when you use the `/bases` command, you will spend an energy to visit the land that the chest is on. To avoid this, you can buy a teleporter or craft warp stones.
Your backpack holds 10 slots, each capable of storing 100 resources.
Purchased in-game items go to your backpack, not chests. If there’s no space, they are sent to the oracle for later retrieval.
Get Additional Storage!
If you’re not happy with your inventory cap, you can get an astronaut suit that you can equip! Even without any equipment, that astronaut suit will give you some additional slots. So, normally your non-NFT suit has 10 slots, each with a 100 resource cap. With the suit, you will get 15 slots of 100 each.
Not satisfied? Equip some bag NFTs to your astronaut and have bigger storage. You should equip from the website by clicking equipment, you can find it in the menu right under your profile picture on the top right. You can find the place to equip your suit and your bags there.
Note that to equip a bag you first need the suit.
Oracle’s Aid: Welcome to the Lost Items Shop!
If you lose something because your inventory is full, the oracle will warn you. You can directly click the “oracle house” to visit there, or you can use the website to go to the land 0. The oracle will ask you for a claim ticket if you want to reclaim your lost items. But remember, you need at least some empty slots to claim them, so you might want to visit your chest first.
To get the claim ticket; you first need a sticker. You can participate in our Zealy tasks or use the secondary market. You’ll be able to atomize your Aphelium Stickers into 5 Claim Tickets. Just connect your wallet, follow the instructions and enjoy your freshly minted tickets: https://www.harmonyforge.io/collections/apheliumgame/atomizers/2
After that, you can click the oracle’s house and see your lost items! You have 7 days to claim them safely, after which they will be open for other players to claim in the “community unclaimed” section.
Your Own Warehouse: Storage That Comes With the Land!
Each of your lands now comes with a chest for additional storage. You can stock up your resources here if you don’t plan to use them right away. More chests will be available to claim in the future. Note that each land comes with a chest and they are tied together, it’s not a separate NFT, but you can buy additional chests for your lands and use them as extra storage or… rent them for AP (renting is only allowed for rare+ lands so common and uncommon lands cannot rent their chests).
Also, each rarity has a maximum of additional chests: for common, you can get 1 additional chest, for uncommon, you can get 2, rare 3, epic 5, and legendary 10. You need to stake these extra chests on the website, and chests should be emptied if you want to unstake them.
Your Chest, Your Rules: Rent Your Chests For AP or For Non-Land owners… Rent Chests for Extra Storage
- Rent offers: If you want to offer one of your chests, you have to click the Rent button under the chest you want to rent, you’ll be prompted with the Rent Offers popup. Here you can create many offers — max 1 per frequency — to give players more options to choose from, based on their needs. You can set prices for hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly use and also set a minimum rent time.
- How to rent: To rent a chest, you need to navigate to the new menu Play -> Rent Offers. Here you can see the list of offers available and their conditions and by clicking on Book you can confirm the rent of the chest. All the payments will be automatic and made in advance, a process will check and handle the payments every 5 minutes.
Manual and Drone-Assisted Resource Management for Lands:
- Natural Resource Depletion: Manual management involves visiting each land base and using specific items for resource replenishment.
- Drone Automation: Drones, staked on your land, automate this process on a monthly cycle, saving time and resources.
Seasonal Natural Boosts:
- Meteor Showers: These rare events provide a natural enhancement to your land’s resources at the start of each season.
Aphelium: The Discord Planet Where You Play, Engage, Earn!
The game is based upon the development of sections of land on an unexplored planet somewhere in the universe. Within these sections players will find plenty of resources used to produce food, metals, items and buildings. All of which you can use to improve your very own land NFT!
