Greetings, Aphelians! We are thrilled to announce the forthcoming release of a significant update, version 0.13.0, which will introduce exciting new features to our beta version. Say hello to the concepts of “Reputation” and “Friendship” — elements that promise to revolutionize your experience with our platform. These fresh mechanics will not only serve as an augmentation of the /work command but also add a layer of complexity to the game, all the while fortifying our defenses against bots.

Friendship

We understand that being friends on the server is great, but what could be better than extending those friendships to the entire planet? With our latest update, we’re introducing the concept of “Friendship,” marking the first step in building social interactions within the game.

Friendship is quantified in points, which you can accumulate during various work events. However, it’s important to note that these points can also decrease, so it’s in your best interest to avoid amassing a horde of adversaries on the planet!

Your Friendship level is based on the number of points you accrue, capped at 100. You can either be a friend (with 30–69 points) or a close friend (with 70–100 points) to another player. This level of relationship will have a direct impact on the reputation hit you take in the event of skipping or ignoring an interaction. When you’re friends with a landowner, the blow to your reputation will be less severe than the standard penalty.

In essence, our new Friendship mechanic not only adds an extra layer of depth to the game but also encourages players to foster positive connections with others in this vast virtual world. So, go ahead and start building those lasting bonds on our planet!

As a crucial component of the friendship mechanics, you’ll be prompted to identify your favorite and least favored resources among the 11 base options. These preferences will come into play during future landowner work events, allowing for a more personalized and engaging gaming experience.

Stardust pledge

Let us introduce you to the “Stardust Pledge” — a unique item that you can craft using various minerals. Interestingly, this item has garnered significant attention from landowners, who seem to covet it greatly. What makes it so desirable remains shrouded in mystery.

Reputation

Within this latest update, we’re rolling out a brand-new metric known as “Reputation.” This metric will gauge your engagement with what we’re dubbing “work events.” Work events are essentially occurrences that can occur while you’re using the /work command. They will involve interactions with non-playable characters (NPCs) that you’ll need to engage with in order to boost and maintain a high level of reputation — capped at 50 points. Why is this important? Well, if your reputation dips below zero, it will directly impact your opportunities to work on coveted, rare+ lands.

How it works

During your work sessions, you might stumble upon various events, and currently, there are two types of events: “Landowner Encounter” and “Broken Robot.”

Broken robot

This is the simpler of the two occurrences. During this event, you may come across a malfunctioning robot lying on the ground. Chappie, our trusty bot, will then present you with a choice: you can either attempt to repair the robot or express your apologies. If you decide to go for the repair, each time you will be required to provide different quantities of certain minerals (up to three) to make the repair effort. If your attempt succeeds, you’ll earn AP coins.

Alternatively, if you choose to apologize, you can skip the event altogether. Chappie may be a bit disheartened, but your reputation will remain intact. On the flip side, if you completely disregard the event by continuing to play without responding to the repair request, your reputation will take a hit. So, the choices you make during these events can significantly influence your reputation within the game.

Landowner encounter

During your efforts on a piece of land, you may encounter an unexpected visit from the landowner, who appears as an NPC. When faced with this situation, you now have three distinct options to consider: “Skip,” “Gift,” or “Ignore.”

  1. Skip: Opting to skip the event will result in a minor reduction in your reputation, and it will also negatively affect your friendship level with that specific user.
  2. Gift: Alternatively, you can choose to gift the landowner 50 units of one of the resources you have in your inventory. This action can lead to three potential outcomes:
    - If the resource you offer happens to be the landowner’s favorite, your reputation will receive a significant boost, and your friendship level will also benefit.
    - If, however, you happen to gift the landowner their least favored resource, your reputation will remain unchanged, but your friendship level with them will decrease.
    - In a different scenario, should you decide to gift a Stardust pledge, you will receive a secure, albeit modest, increase in both your reputation and friendship levels.
  3. Ignore: If you choose to simply ignore the NPC by not responding, this will result in a detrimental hit to your reputation.

These choices you make when encountering the landowner can substantially impact both your reputation within the game and your level of friendship with the involved user.

Aphelium: The Discord Planet Where You Play, Engage, Earn!

The game is based upon the development of sections of land on an unexplored planet somewhere in the universe. Within these sections players will find plenty of resources used to produce food, metals, items and buildings. All of which you can use to improve your very own land NFT!
